Medical & Getting Knocked Out

The medical system is Tarkov's, not DayZ's: surgical kits, stims, splints and tourniquets, with Tarkov's items on the traders and in the loot. Medics among the infected drop the real Tarkov medical kit. The top-shelf medicine — Propital, SJ6, survival kits, MULE, IFAKs — is found rarely; bandages and painkillers fill the floors.

Helping people pays#

Reputation comes from over 130 actions, and treating somebody else pays the most of any of them — bandaging, stitching, splinting, defibrillating, giving blood, CPR and cutting a restrained player loose. Action reputation is capped at 300 an hour, so it's a reward for playing rather than a route to the top shelf, but a medic in a group earns it constantly. Reputation.

Getting knocked out#

Blacking out is a separate system from health. It's a shock pool that starts full and is knocked down by hits; when it drops low enough you go unconscious, and you come round when it has refilled part of the way. It refills on its own while you're conscious, pausing briefly after each hit.

Three things decide how easily you drop:

• Where you're hit. The head takes several times the shock of the body. Blackouts happen above the neck — a vest stops almost all the shock a body hit would carry, so nobody is getting knocked out through a plate. The helmet is the anti-concussion item.
• What you're hit with. Cheap, low-penetration rounds carry the most shock; armour-piercing rounds drill through and carry the least. The round that won't get through your plate is the one most likely to put you on the floor if it finds your head. Ammunition.
• Stims. Propital, Adrenaline, Morphine, Trimadol, Vaseline, L1 and Gold Star make you immune to being knocked out while they last — by anything, at any tier.
